Diamond of California Hickory Smoked Bacon Walnuts

Fourth times the charm?

And here we are at the final bag to see if this will be better than previous experiences.

Smells promising - but then, so did the last one.

These walnuts are darker in color than the previous two. The first bag was regular walnut color since they were just dusted with Himalayan pink salt. The Hot Honey and Teriyaki Wasabi walnuts were slightly darker.

The Hickory smoked bacon walnuts looked like they've tanning all day by the pool.

The flavor is somewhere between Hot Honey and Teriyaki Wasabi in terms of lasting. There's a little "bacon" flavor on the back end, but I still taste walnut - more so than I would like.

Maybe it's because of the kind of nut it is? Or the size? If you're just doing a light dusting of seasoning powder, then only the outside will be coated and once you get past the seasoning, all you're left with is walnut.

With the Wasabi and Soy Sauce almonds I've had, I think the seasoning to density ratio balanced out. Walnuts are large but relatively less dense than the almond - so I feel maybe their ratio is off.

So as not to be wasteful, I may make a "pesto" sauce with the remaining walnuts. I wonder if combining all the "flavors" will make a new flavor that is stronger than the individual ones I tried. We shall see.

  • 4oz (113g) of walnuts per bag
  • 1 serving is 1/4 cup (28g) which is 190 calories
  • 4 servings per container..
